Drop Stand
This project won an Internship placement with DROP

Designed in collaboration Thibault Pfeiffer
This stand was designed to re-use the Drop scales packaging in a beneficial way instead of throwing it in the bin and creating waste which is one of the biggest obstiacles of our modern consumer culture and a problem which good design can change. An Ipad is used with the Drop Scale to show you how to cook so developing a stand was a natural progression. By using the existing packaging it costs no extra to produce but gives the consumer an extra product and the scale extra value.
Through alot of trial, error and user testing we developed a foldable stand which can hold an ipad at any angle without collapsing under the weight or when pressed during use. The stand also uses no glue or adhesives to stay together only our joint design comprised of interlocking cutaways from the cardboard.
Internship Development
During our Internship we developed the design of the stand further adding a clip to the centre of the stand strengthening its hold. We also changed the dimensions so that once the centre clip is inserted into its slot the corners slide straight into each other making the stand easier to create. The corner slots are also arched to allow them to  fit together without bending the cardboard.
We also designed and illustrated the stand and instructions to help make the construction simple to understand using ink and layering techniques already used to print on the existing packaging.
